United 93 (2006)
Starring: …
Director: Paul Greengrass
Country: USA
Genre: Drama
Possibly the most unbiased movie I’ve ever seen.
I think it’s safe to say that almost everyone was affected by the tragedy on 9/11, but I think it’s also safe to say that some were more affected than others. I’ll be the first to admit that I was not directly affected outside of what was being transmitted through my television screen. That being said, I shouldn’t necessarily feel such a personal connection with the content of this movie. I should have been able to disassociate myself and look at it as a terrifyingly realistic depiction of the horrific yet heroic efforts of the passengers stopping the terrorists aboard their plane. I should have been able to try to figure out where I know all of those TV actors from. I should have, but I couldn’t. There was something going on in this movie that tore through to the core of me and wouldn’t let go.

I’ve yet to see this movie. 9/11 was possibly the event of our lifetime and I still have this massive knot in my stomach every time I see a documentary about it on the History Channel for example.

Castor – I’ve only seen the film once and even still whenever I think of it my stomach gets tight and I get teary eyed. It’s such an amazing piece of cinema.

I was so surprised by this movie. Loved it! I recall not really wanting to see it, but was very impressed and moved by the storytelling here. A very solid achievement.

Peter – I’m not sure there’s another film this decade that made me cry more than this film. Truly a testament to how well Greengrass can put you in the action.
