Who Is This Guy?
A perfectly reasonable question. Simply put, I’m a dude who watches a lot of movies. I’ve been an avid film-lover for as long as I can remember. The truth is, I would be doing this project even if it weren’t possible to make it public and to share with other film enthusiasts. (I have an unhealthy number of databases and excel sheets dedicated to different aspects of the films I see… but there’s no need for me to admit that outside of a parenthetical.)
Why This Guy?
I realize there are hundreds of blogs dedicated to the best films. I appreciate you taking the time to sift through the content of this site, and always am grateful for feedback (you can send comments here.) So why should you consider revisiting this site over and over? Well, unlike a lot of other blogs, it is maintained by just myself. Therefore my content should have a consistency to its style, (though if you find some older stuff it may deviate a bit in form.)
Really, I’d like to develop a sense of journey with my readers. I’m very persistent in updating the site, (as well as the sister sites, which you can find located on the right,) and hope that the choices of films will spark discussion, in both agreeing and disagreeing with the choices. I also hope that there will be films you may not have heard of. There’s no greater honor than introducing someone to their new favorite film.
Lastly, I try to be honest and personal. In my efforts to update every day, or as often as possible, I may write some entries that fall a bit flat. For the most part, though, I try to add a sprinkle of personality into each entry.
In the coming months, as I near the end of my research, I will be incorporating more content than just the movie entires. I fully intend on incorporating the articles I write into the posts, as well as interesting top 10 lists of the decade. But, before that happens, I have to finish watching my priority list.
It’s important for me to let my audience know that I don’t consider the content on this site to be “reviews” as much as I consider them “appreciations.” There are so many sites out there, even some quite prestigious, that get too caught up in bashing films. I’ve created this site as a collection of worthy films, so there’s no critique involved. They are mostly simple thoughts on great films.
