It does the body good. For realz.

Biopics usually tend to be long and bloated homages to a particular person, and for the most part in the case of the 2000s, haven’t necessarily focused on a specific area of a person’s life, but just briefly skimp over it. That is not the situation with Milk, as it does a stupendous job of showing the importance that this one man had on the world in his stance defending gay rights. Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Elephant,) uses his sharpened directorial skills to tell a story simultaneously inspiring and full of dread. Penn well deserved his Oscar for his performance as the determined Harvey Milk. But the real driving force behind the film comes from its ultra passionate screenwriter Dustin Lance Black whose research and determination can be felt in every second of the story.
